IRAN. Qom. December 1979. The funeral for Dr. Mohammed MOFFATEH, one of Ayatollah Khamenei's most influential followers. He was assassinated by gunmen in the streets of Teheren while on his way to the university's department of theology, where he had been dean for 11 years. Thousands of faithful crowded the inner courtyard of the Great Mosque in Qom as his coffin was carried overhead and later taken through the streets.
