ISRAEL. Jerusalem. January 7 2000. A Muslim woman walking toward the Dome of the Rock Mosque down Via Dolorosa, the road on which Christ carried his cross through ancient city of Jerusalem. On Id al-Fitr, the day following the month long fast of Ramadan, Muslims visit the Dome of the Rock Mosque before sunrise and then the adjacent cemetery on the western perimeter of the walled Old City, as the sun ascends, to place palm leaves and pray at the graves of deceased family members.
