The French town of Evry (near Paris) with 50.000 inhabitants of which 5% are migrant workers from Mali, has created a "twin towns" programme with the town of Kayes (50.000 inhabitants) in Mali, a region which provides two thirds of Mali's migrant force in France. Mali provides over 60.000 citizens to the French workforce; it was thus decided to provide them with better standards of family life, schools, social and cultural conditions.
Most Malians provide from their wages a large cash return to their home country, helping to improve local conditions for their families in Africa.
