CUBA. 2000. Military shop. 'This is a shop window in Havana. The shop sells military clothing and has a spectacular array of clothes and goods draped over slightly dingy mannequins. This kind of subject is very attractive to a photographer. it evokes a certain nostalgia for communist imagery. Cuba is still a communist country, and shop window displays are a good example of an art form that has been lost in Eastern Europe. I imagine that this slightly kitsch, 1960s look will become a trend in 20 years' time'.
