On Tibetan New Year day in Delhi, Tibetan refugees living in dusty refugee camps, festooned with Buddhist prayer flags, take the portrait of the Dalai Lama in a procession along the windy banks of the Jumna River. They offer prayers for his long life which is followed by auspicious throwing of flour all over each other, and the setting of of firecrackers. Some Khambas do a dance, the Tibetan New Year falls in late February, since they use the lunar calendar.
