Rome: Palazzo Altemps.
The museum reopened to the public in 1998 after extensive renovation. It contains the art collection of the Boncompagni Ludovisi family. Between the XVI and the XVII centuries, the cardinal Marco Sittico Altemps and his nephew put together what was then considered the most extraordinary collection of ancient Roman statues. After having been scattered in various museums, many statues have been put back into their original setting.
