Maltese oil tanker Erika sunk in french waters outside Penmarc'h , Monday December 13th, after having been cut in two Sunday December 12th. Efforts to tug the rear of Erika into open waters in order to avoid ecological disaster on the French shores were documented by Jean Gaumy who was the only photographer on the French tug boat Abeille Flandres.
