INDONESIA. Bali. Village of Kamasan, south of Klungkung. 1949. Painting is a man's work in Bali. Women, traditionally weave. But since the war, textile is lacking and so this girl does a man's work. The subjects of her paintings are taken from the Hindu epic Ramayana which is familiar to everyone in Indonesia. She paints with a bamboo.
