SPAIN. Main square of Guernica. Guernica was bombed by the Condor Legion (A unit of Nazi Germany's air force). As it was a market day the town was crowded. The town was first struck by explosive bombs and then by incendiaries. As people fled from their homes they were machine-gunned by fighter planes. The three hour raid completely destroyed the town. It is estimated that 1,685 people were killed and 900 injured in the attack. 1985.
