Prior to the trucks brining in the tonnes of earth and rock required to make the foundations for the building of the piers leading up to the bridge, workers lay on the estuary bed of the Seine river over 50.000 m2 of GEOTEXTILE sheets which have 3 functions. They evenly spread the foundation materials brought in by truck and disposed
on the soft estuary bed, stop the base from sinking and absorbing the earth and rock mass, serve as drains to evacuate on each side the infiltrated water, a mattress effect that nature previously provided by growing of reeds into an estuary flatbed shores.
