On August 17th 1999 the segment of the North Anatolian Fault produced a magnitude 7.4 earthquake which took tens of thousands of lives, leaving 250.000 homeless.


GOLCUK was the epi-center of the 1999 earthquake. One year later hundereds of thousands still live under dramatic conditions in improvised shelters, or in prefab barracks, in constant fear of a new earthquake.
