Thousands of birds , victims of the ecological disaster after sinking of Maltese oil tanker Erika in French waters,
December 12-13th 1999, are taken to specialized centres for treatment.
Jean GAUMy has documented efforts of cleaning the birds at the UNSC Centre hosted in the Natural Museum of Allouville-Bellefosse.
A special machine to clean off the oil has been invented by Jean-Pierre Jacques , sponsored by ELF. This machine as now become a standard tool of intervention worldwide.
