Following the arrival of the Palestinian police and the partial withdrawl of the Israeli army, Palestinian flags hang on strings throughout the city in anticipation of an Independent Palestinian state. Down the road are the Israeli Jewish settlements of Tel Rumeida, Beit Hadassah and Avraham Avinu, their continued presence being the justification for the lasting Israeli occupation of Hebron.
