Robert Capa / International Center of Photography
At the corner of the Joachimsthaler Strasse and the Ecke Kurfurstendamm is a public notice board for "tuesday" where people are looking for food, cloth, or a gas stove. Often these items were bartered and exchanged. In May 1945 Berlin was liberated by the Allied and the Soviet troops. On May 7th Germany signed its defeat, thus ending the Second World War.
