BELGIUM. Province of Liege. District of Verviers. Town of Stavelot. Carnival. Annual event since 1502, beginning on the third sunday before Easter, lasting three days. For 500 years, the "Blancs-Moussis" have dressed up as white men with long noses, in order to make fun of the abbot who had forbidden his monks to join the carnival. 1975.
