Tel Aviv 21 June 1948.Evacuation of the wounded from the burning ALTALENA. Irgun men save their wounded from the beach under the heavy fire, and suddenly a white ambulance, a present of the American Jewish "David's Shield' - the equivalent of the Red Cross, appears between the fighting lines to evacuate the wounder 'American' Irgunists. The Haganah guards help to evacuate the wounded on the beachfront.
