INDIA. “Women Changing India”. Gujarat state. Kutch district. KMVS office at Mundra. Hindu Meghwar community. Parmaben Sawa (68 years old), mid-wife. She's been delivering babies since she was 18 years old and has never lost a child. She received a national award for being such a good mid-wife. She has delivered over ten thousand children. KMVS - Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan, is a Kutch – Gujarat based women’s organization which was initiated and promoted in 1989 which emphasis has been empowerment of women. It enables women to access information, training, and skills. As well as handicraft production, KMVS organizes programs in natural resource management, education for women and girls, health education, family planning, and legal support. It runs a radio broadcast in tribal dialect, a newsletter, a self-managed screen-printing-unit, and a savings and credit program.
