RUSSIA. Grozny, Chechnya. 02/2002. Sacrificing bulls and painting children's faces with blood as a rite for "Kurban bairam", Moslem holiday, which this year falls on the same weekend as the day commemorating the deportation of the entire Chechen nation to Central Asia by I.V. STALIN in 1946. Chechens were accused of collaborating with Nazi Germany and only rehabilitated in 1956. Nowadays more then 400 000 of the a little less then 1 Mio Chechens live in exile. They fled from the wars and perscution. Around 200 000 in refugee camps in neighbouring Ingushetia.
