Since 1993, a community of Trappist monks' have been living above Beirut in accordance with the rules of Saint-Benont. Placed under the authority of the abbot of the Mont-des-cats Trapdoor, the Trappist monks of the monastery Saint-Sauveur follow the Maronite liturgy.
