March 5 and 6, 2011. Nuclear submarine (SSBN) nuclear missile launcher Le Terrible.
The submarine departs on its first mission of deterrence.
In the control room where all aspects of submarine navigation are controlled.
In the event of the most sensitive exercise aboard the submarine, the Commander himself types in the secret codes for the atomic arms according to instructions that he receives from the President of the French Republic. The operation must follow several complex steps involving the Commander and his second in command. The two must be in perfect agreement. At all levels, activities are organized around 2 or 3 individuals. The submarine is more than a community. It is an organism.
With the launching of missiles, death is programmed. It will be precise in its target, hitting it within 50 meters, quite close when considering that the missile's course can be thousands of kilometers long if necessary.
