The announcement has just been made that Mr Jacques CHIRAC has been elected the 5th President of France, in the reception and banqueting room of the Hotel de Ville de Paris (The Town Hall), his wife Bernadette Chirac thanks his supporters before leaving for a reception at the party campaign headquarters.
