This is a patient with her child at the Gondola/Inchope Clinic and Crossroads-This is the crossroads of Mozambique because the only two roads for cross-country transportation intersect here (one road runs north-south and the other east-west). There is a high level of HIV transmission happening here because of the truckers, transients, and sex workers; everything getting transported goes through here. The HIV transmission risk is so high they run a prevention/treatment clinic over night to accommodate sex workers. We met with a doctor who works here and a few other clinics; he is here only 1 day a week. Photos and videos from here include shots of the clinic and waiting areas, the HIV clinic/treatment facility, patients, walking down the road to the crossroads, people loitering at crossroads, and interviews with a doctor that works here, a young mother, and Dezi Muhatis (spelling is wrong) who works with UNICEF. No good source of water here; people walk miles for water and meds.
