Beira. Mozambique. Kuplumusanna WomenÍs Support Group - We met this group at Munhava Health Clinic where they work with the PMTCT clinic that operates here. We did sit-down interviews with a group of 5 volunteers (they are all wearing red shirts). After the interview we traveled with the group to do home visits with some of the patients; the first location was for an HIV infected mother raising her child alone in an abandoned building with some other ñsquattersî; the second home was a grandmother who was raising her grandkids because the mother died from AIDS. After the home visit we stopped at a small market area on the edge of town where they presented a short drama/play designed to education the people about HIV awareness and prevention (shown here); there was a big crowd for this. Two days later we accompanied two volunteers from this same group (I donÍt have the name of one of the ladies and the other is named Afua-this may be spelled wrong) to a home visit where we met a women who is raising 9 kids with her husband, not all the kids are hers, some are HIV orphans that she has adopted. The next morning we went to AfuaÍs house to photograph her daily life; after the kids got up and went to school we went with Afua to another clinic where she had a pre-natal visit (Afua is 4 months pregnant with twins, she is HIV infected and her husband is not around„she is pretty amazing and a great protagonist for the story). Other Kupl. Volunteers were at this clinic the same morning and they did another short play to educate people about HIV transmission and prevention. Photographs and videos from here are sit-down interviews with volunteers, 3 different home visits of patients being counseled by the group, two educational demonstrations/plays presented by the volunteers, and personal time with one of the volunteers at her home (Afua) and at a doctor visit for pre-natal care
