SIKKIM. The cremation of the Chogyal. 1982.
The body of the Chogyal was placed in a wooden casket in an "upright seated position" and covered with the Sikkim flag, a military guard of honour stood nearby continually for 24hrs. In the foreground have been placed at each mealtime dishes that the Chogyal liked, there are jars of honey and also mustard, at each mealtime a new series of dishes was brought near the casket in the Monastery.
