He says: "Was the candidate demagogic by displaying his old shoes and a cheap jacket, not drawing his salary as mayor of Tehran, living in an old house and driving an old car ? I did ask him that very question in my film. His answer was that Imam Khomeiny lived a simple life but after the war with Iraq, our leaders moved into palaces. An Islamic Republic should not be like this. This is Ahmadinejad’s protest against the luxurious life of some of our leaders."
