Several days of mass exhumation and reburial of about 140 Abkhaz soldiers killed several month earlier in a Georgian ambush.
GENERAL CAPTION:
After several years of Civil War between Georgian Government troops and Russian backed Abkhaz separatist the later manage to drive the Georgian Army out of the former ASSR Abkhazia, an area at the Black Sea coast. Remaining ethnic Georgians are made to flee, the Abkhaz are beginning to run the place as an independent country under President Vladislav Ardzinba, but stay under a blockade. Before the War, ethnic Abkhaz constituted 17% of the population according to the last USSR census, on the 3rd place after Armenians and Georgians.
