RUSSIA. Bryansk. Bryansk Diagnostic Centre. The local population that was exposed to radiation from the Chernobyl nuclear accident of 1986 is screened at the centre for anomalies of the Thyroid. Anatolyi PROSHIN director of the centre. PROSHIN is leading research into the study of non cancerous and non genetic illnesses ( predominatly heart disease, cataracts and ulcers) found in people from inside the contaminated zone, in order to ascertain whether or not there is a link between them and the radiation released.
